The
Workshop has been an active member of SCAN from the
early beginnings of the consortium.
SCAN is the innovative
new media arts agency in the South of England. As a
network of organisations, SCAN is committed to the delivery
& facilitation of collaborative works.
We provide fertile spaces, in a range of different places,
for individuals & organisations to share resources
in the realisation of high quality projects & experimental
initiatives using emergent technologies & practices.
Using the SCAN website, the physical spaces of our member
organisations & the expertise of our partners, SCAN
provides a focal point for a wide spectrum of digital
arts practice. SCAN also acts as facilitator, broker,
curator & advocate for media based practice.

SCAN
activities include:
Promoting partnerships between
artists & other industry professionals like
scientists, engineers & architects to explore
the creative potential of hybrid & interdisciplinary
projects involving diverse technologies.
Providing project production, advice & mentoring
services to individual artists
Providing a network for organisations & practitioners
Offering information, training, equipment &
exhibition opportunities to support the production
of new work & educational initiatives
Sourcing & hosting placements for students
& volunteers – in the past we have placed
students from IUT, France; Bournemouth Institute;
& IDAT, University of Plymouth
Supporting the production of work involving new
media, though we also welcome innovative ideas
& practice that involved other forms
