The Media Workshop is an independent Southampton based community arts organisation.
It was established 29 years ago. It occupies three rooms in
Mount Pleasant Junior School consisting of a large darkroom,
office and computer training resource base.
The Media Workshop works city wide in partnership with groups of people
of all ages and abilities on a wide variety of projects. All
our projects are designed with the participants to meet their
own particular needs and the products will be kept by the
group to use for their own purpose.
We offer support through arts projects with community groups,
open access darkroom & computer suite, using arts for
regeneration work including consultation, skills training,
helping to build communities through the arts and Visual Arts
Research.
MPMW
is revenue by Southampton City Council, but make make 40-50%
of our income from paid project work.
