The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are about more than just sport. They help to bring people together to celebrate different cultures and ways of life. With singing, dancing, making and displaying and encouraging an appreciation of heritage, the Cultural Olympiad is happening - now - all over the UK, helping people take part in London 2012 wherever they live or whatever they’re into. Southampton is playing its part in the Cultural Olympiad too, by organising and helping local people to put on events that offer something for everyone. Look through this brochure to find out how you can be part of the celebrations in Southampton.
Remember, this is just one stop on the journey to London 2012. If you have any ideas that you would like to develop with us into possible projects for the Cultural Olympiad please contact steve.hill@southampton.gov.uk
SHAPe is for groups and individuals: anyone involved in a cultural activity, whether educational, voluntary, professional, self-employed or otherwise, is welcome to join. For more information on SHAPe see www.southampton-partnership.com/partners/SHAPe or contact steve.hill@southampton.gov.uk 023 8083 2810.
